Questions

Plain answers to the questions guests actually ask. If something you need is missing, email us — we'll add it.

Booking and payment

How can I book a cabin?

Our cabins are available through Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO, or directly through this site. Booking directly is 7-12% cheaper because we don't have to pay hosting fees to the other platforms.

What's the cancellation policy?

Full refund for cancellations more than thirty days before check-in.

50% refund for cancellations between 30 and 7 days before check-in.

No refund less than seven days before check-in.

Full refund for cancellations the same day as booking, as long as you haven't already checked into the cabin.

Why is there a security deposit on direct bookings?

Though 99.9% of guests respect our property, there is a small subset that causes damage that's costly and difficult to repair quickly. When booking directly, we have no third party to manage and enforce damage payments — so we collect a security deposit to give us an option in the rare instance we need to cover for damages. The security deposit is a pre-authorization (a hold) and is released after check-out.

Are there discounts for longer stays?

Yes. Our booking engine automatically discounts stays of seven days or more, and again for stays of thirty days or more.

The cabins

Are pets allowed?

Dogs are welcome at Glacier's Edge Cabins. Bring the furry friend.

What's the wifi like?

We have Spectrum Business 300 Mbps internet at the cabins. That's plenty fast for video conference calls and any work we need to do. Plenty of guests have come and worked remotely from the cabins before a big hiking weekend in the park.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 10:00 AM.

Can I request early check-in or late check-out?

We need time between stays to make sure each cabin is in shape and meets our standard of cleanliness. Depending on the number of turnovers we have that day, we may be able to accommodate an early check-in or late check-out. Email info@glaciers-edge.com to request.

The area

Where are the entrances to the park?

There are seven entrances to Glacier National Park, grouped by region: West, East, and North.

West Glacier is the main entrance and the most popular region of the park. You'll find the Apgar Visitor's Center, Lake McDonald, and the western start of Going-to-the-Sun Road. At the midpoint of Going-to-the-Sun is Logan Pass — the starting point for the Hidden Lake Overlook and the Highline Trail.

East Glacier breaks into three main entrances. St. Mary is the eastern start of Going-to-the-Sun and is reached either through the park or around it via Highways 2, 49, and 89. Two Medicine sits south of St. Mary, between East Glacier and Kiowa on Highway 49 — Two Medicine and Upper Two Medicine Lakes plus Running Eagle Falls are here. Many Glacier sits north of St. Mary through the town of Babb, with Iceberg Lake as the headline.

North Glacier is the more remote and wild section. The roads and trails are rougher and you're more likely to see locals than tourists. The Polebridge Entrance is reached through the town of Polebridge, about thirty-five miles north of Columbia Falls — Kintla and Bowman lakes are the draw.

How far to the West Entrance?

The town of West Glacier is a fifteen-to-twenty-minute drive from the cabins.

How far to St. Mary?

The most direct route is through the park on Going-to-the-Sun Road, but it's slow going because of the scenic drive — expect at least two hours. During the high season you'll either need to enter the West Entrance before 6 a.m. or have a vehicle reservation for the West Entrance to drive Going-to-the-Sun.

The other route is around the park on Highway 2. It's about thirty miles longer and takes about the same amount of time — roughly two hours.

How far to Two Medicine?

The fastest route to the Two Medicine Entrance is around the park on Highway 2 — about a one-hour-and-twenty-minute drive.

How far to Many Glacier?

Like St. Mary, the most direct route is through the park on Going-to-the-Sun Road. Expect two hours or more through the park to St. Mary, and another twenty minutes from St. Mary to Many Glacier — about two hours and twenty minutes total. As above, you'll need to enter the West Entrance before 6 a.m. or have a vehicle reservation for the West Entrance.

The alternate route is around the park on Highways 2, 49, and 89 through East Glacier, Kiowa, and St. Mary. About a two-hour-and-fifteen-minute drive.

How far to Polebridge?

The Polebridge Entrance is a one-hour drive from the cabins, heading north through Columbia Falls on the North Fork Road.

Where should we eat in town?

We have favorite spots — see the field guide for our coffee shops, dive bars, breweries, and dinner picks across Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and Kalispell.

Logistics

How far is the airport?

The cabins are a fifteen-minute drive from Glacier Park International Airport (FCA).
