Plate 01 — The Willow, Late Spring the Willow
First of four sister cabins. Identical bones — same beds, same kitchen, same morning light — named for the willows of the Flathead River, half a mile away.

Plate 08 — Willow buds along the Flathead, May The willows along the Flathead are easy to miss until you’re looking for them — and once you are, you see them everywhere. They line the riverbanks, hold the road shoulders together, fill the spaces between the bigger trees with their fiery red trunks. In spring they push out bright green buds before almost anything else, the first real signal that winter has finally let go. In fall they go the other direction — yellow and orange and a deep red that catches the late light and holds it.
They aren’t the tallest trees out here. They aren’t even the most striking, most days. But you notice when they’re gone. Willows have a way of holding things together — banks, roads, the underbrush where animals move at dusk.
We’ve drilled three wells in our life, and every time, the witcher came with a willow branch in hand and every time, the willow found us water. Anyone who’s lived in Montana long enough knows what we mean. Some things can be explained, some things don’t need to be.

Great little cabin just off the main road into Glacier. We stayed for three nights with two full-sized dogs and had zero issues. We already had plans for exploring Glacier and the surrounding area, but Forrest & Marielle still went out of their way to share helpful recommendations ahead of our stay. Overall, a fantastic experience—we’ll definitely be back. And the price can’t be beat. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay with a super accessible location! Having lived in the valley before, I was excited to see a rental available in this location. Super close to Glacier but still only a mile from Columbia Falls and all the restaurants there!

A cozy cabin perfect for pet owners. The hosts truly thought of everything when they built the cabin. It has all of the amenities we could’ve asked for and some we didn’t realize we needed. There is plenty of lawn to walk the dogs on and the cabin is situated so it felt private. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay here!
